D’Lonra Ellis, CLO of Oakland A’s

Today, my guest is D’Lonra Ellis, Chief Legal Officer for the Oakland Athletics and the San Jose Earthquakes. In this capacity, she oversees all legal matters for both organizations, including corporate governance, labor and employment, intellectual property, commercial transactions, and litigation. D’Lonra plays a pivotal role in managing the legal aspects of real estate acquisition, entitlement, and development efforts, notably contributing to the launch of Earthquakes II in MLS NEXT Pro.

Prior to joining the A’s, D’Lonra was the General Counsel at Aspire Public Schools, Senior Corporate Counsel and Director of Brand Services at Gap, Inc., and Associate at Howard Rice (now Arnold & Porter). She is an Adjunct Professor at UC Law San Francisco, teaching Sports Law and the Corporate Counsel Externship Program. Ellis is deeply engaged in community service, serving on the boards of Bay Area Legal Aid, KIPP Northern California Public Schools, and Seven Stories Institute, a nonprofit bookstore collective in New York City. D’Lonra holds a BA in from Columbia University and a JD from Stanford Law School.
