Today, my guest is Brian Schar, a former colleague from Lyon & Lyon, who talks about zymurgy, which is the technical term of beer brewing. Not only does Brian brew his own beer in his backyard, he is also a beer tasting judge. It turns out that getting a beer judge certification is not altogether different from passing the bar exam: it involves study groups, flash cards and 3 hours of essays! Brian has attained a certification level of a “Master” level judge, one short of the highest level of “Grand Master,” and he tells the story of studying for the exam in a way that had me captivated the whole time.
